Bonnie and Clyde Stayed Here
During the early 1930's, Bonnie and Clyde were known to have visited Granbury several times....eating at the cafe on the square, but never robbing the bank! Mr. Doyle, who built the property that is now known as The Captain's House on the Lake Bed and Breakfast, was famous in his own right for bringing people home from the square to spend the night. Recorded in Mary Kate Doyle's diary is the story of the snippy little lady and guy brought home to spend the night and have breakfast. Mrs. Doyle didn't like them at all and reminded Mr. Doyle of this fact some months later when they saw pictures in the local paper and recognized the couple as Bonnie and Clyde! It appears that The Doyle's really had the first Bed and Breakfast in Granbury way back in the early 1900s and were happy to know they brought back to life the ambiance of giving excellent service to their overnight guests!
